Heart Rate: Up

First jog in months. In fact, I can't remember running since I sprained my big toe when running barefoot last May.

I was on a new track at a nearby high school, with the fake, springy kind of surface that is comfortable to run barefoot on. The sun was going down, with a warm breeze. It was so nice, up until I came to a tiny uneven spot. I stumbled and stubbed my toe. I kept moving, hoping to run off the pain, until I was on the last turn, heading back to the entrance. All of a sudden, I misstepped again, and Bingo! Classic double injury to the same area, at the same place in the track. It brought a sad and immediate end to the jog as the sun slipped behind the trees.

Fast forward to today. It is chilly, upper 30's or low 40's I'm guessing. My foot isn't quite back to normal, but I ran anyway, shoes on.

It's good to be out!!!

Minimal Suds

Some things are never too late to learn. Lately, I've taken to brushing my teeth. That's always a good thing. Actually, I've been taught to brush my teeth since I was a young kid. The difference in the new routine is an ingredient, not the frequency. You've probably heard of it before - sodium bicarbonate. A common household ingredient, baking soda is not only great in cooking, etc., it's also wonderful for dental hygiene, and hair cleansing.
